Thrifting is a great way to help reduce pollution and waste in our community. Donating and buying from thrift shops helps to decrease the waste going into landfills as well as to help those who cannot afford new clothes purchase clothing for a fraction of the price. Having a thrift market once a semester will allow for Mohawk students to donate clothes that they no longer use in order for the pieces to go to someone who needs it or is just looking for ways to be more eco-friendly.
Clothing would have to have minimal wear and tear but it would help eliminate fast fashion going into landfills and would create a greater sense of community on campus. Students could volunteer to run the clothing swap.
